Hailing from Písek, Radek Krampl is considered the premier Czech vibraphonist and a leading figure on the local jazz scene. A former student of the legendary Karel Velebný — a pioneer of Czech jazz — Krampl honed his craft at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Today, he shares his expertise as a professor in the percussion department at the Prague Conservatory.

Radek Krampl’s artistic range is both fascinating and remarkably diverse. With a natural ability to move across genres, he feels equally at home in swinging jazz, free improvisation, blues, Latin, funk, and even contemporary classical music. Krampl’s performances are defined by a masterful technique and a deep expressive touch. His imaginative and distinctive solos have earned him a place on recordings by some of the most iconic names in Czech music, including Michal Pavlíček, Roman Dragoun, Meky Žbirka, and Monkey Business. Throughout his career, he has been a key figure in projects like Jan Spálený’s ASPM, Luboš Andršt’s bands, and Milan Svoboda’s Kontraband. Audiences have also had the chance to experience Krampl’s virtuosity alongside internationally acclaimed jazz figures such as Tony Scott, Victor Mendoza, and others.
